Nobody is arguing that you shouldn't use a flashlight as an ideal self defense weapon when you have the option to use a firearm.
What they are arguing is that for people who work jobs (hard idea for you to grasp, I know) where they are not allowed to carry a gun or are required by law to justify their use of force, a flashlight is a legally and feasibly justifiable weapon in a self defense situation.
