I actually do disagree, but can understand your view. As for myself, I think passion can be a good and even a great thing, and one of my major passions is philosophy, and, lying
Beneath even that, is my passion for discovering spiritual truth. It really is ‘natural’ to me.
I can accept and concede to you, that these interests of mine/the stim-like or mania-like focus and extreme effort I sometimes put into them, I guess can be “cringe” or “bad taste” to some people.
But, again, I have a different enough worldview and temperament and know 4chan is often a cesspool and I shouldn’t be spending so much of my life-energy and intellect wasting away here - but, on the other hand, these anonymous shitposting encounters are sometimes some of the genuinely deeper communications and communion I have with other people sometimes - again, as ‘cringe’ or as ‘sad’/‘delusional’ or whatever you like it may seem to you. I guess my passion comes from appreciation of how wonderful, intelligent, and inspirational the best posters her exam be, and HAVE been throughout the years, along with anger at those who decide to use such a beautiful opportunity for relatively far more uncensored online anonymous discussion, and turn it into a shit, into their own personal bathroom stall to smear shit on the walls of or write crude bathroom-stall graffiti, ditties, dirty jokes on. Also, in addition, the fact that few to zero people in real life that I know and interact with frequently enough, have enough of a compelling reason to believe they can have as good/interesting discussions on philosophy and literature with me at leash SOMETIMES. As we can all get at least sometimes if going on lit/ lol.
Guess I’m turning into my father, as the common joke goes, or as the cliche/proverb/saying goes about many men growing older. I mean, I’m increasingly becoming the old fuddyduddy and unhip enough old man, ranting and raving and rambling (too sincerely) about things the younger generations - or even just more cynical people, in general - that they have already protected and distanced themselves from through the wearing of a hip, ironic, sarcastic, nonserious veil. Never letting anything really get through to or touch them. Coating everything in these layers of ironic detachment and sense (which they’re trying to project onto other people, for sure) that they’re just ‘too cool’ for all or any of this,
As for me, I say … cool … great! Have what you want!
As for me, I just think, “If I can’t sincerely discuss things like this on 4chan, where CAN I discuss this?”
