90% of autists here have already picked their waifu and will not feel comfortable dating any other pony. So either we make a different game/story path for each of the mane 6 (more work); figure out a way to write a single story in which the protagonist is interchangeable (impossible); write a story about a completely new pony and then try to brainwash waifufags into loving her (impossible); or create an alternate Equestria so we can start from scratch (too likely to flop).
