In our world it reflects that, sure. But that wouldn't necessarily correlate to the planet containing Equestria. For all we know the civilizations of both Giraffe and Zebra could be entirely separate geographically, maybe even ecologically. The fact only part of the world has been revealed through canonical maps can still support a LOT of diversity as far as organisms and disconnected societies go.
