Only zoomers think in generations. Rock was just all one big shared tradition once, where multiple ages were tuned into a lot of the same shit. Or would eventually. There were boomers listening to Sabbath or Motorhead or Maiden in the 80s and 90s, but also grunge kids. they're into Murakami or something.
The real problem is that now you want to move on and erase the past, you still didn't replace it with anything worth a shit. It'd be OK if you managed that.
