it's the zoomer version of upper middle class boomer thots going college backpacking in southeast asia and learning that brown people aren't spear-chucking apes who do human sacrifice and cannibalism like they expected and then overreacting and deciding the east is "enlightened" and can literally do no wrong

thing is asia stopped being cool when it got flooded with israelis and bogans so now bougie types send their kids to yurop which is slightly more expensive and thus there's a barrier to entry that makes experience traveling there somewhat of a class signal that third world travel isn't anymore

so now instead of Betty (she/her born 1950) burning yoga mats and huffing patchouli and getting om tattoos and deciding she's buddhist and wearing home made tie dye t-shirts that say don't trust anyone over 30, or Amanda (she/her born 1975) walking around with a yerba mate gourd and a che guevara shirt and posting on facebook about leonard peltier and how we shouldn't trust boomers, now it's Ryinne (they/them, born 2007) spamming toktick about how american bikes are wrong and dumb and everyone should ride a 50 pound rusted piece of shit and everything would be great if we just killed all the millennials
