I lean left and couldn't stand that shit. So disingenuous, and they would use it as a shield for legitimately bad games and writing. Effective political messaging in media, either leftwing or rightwing, is crafted such that it doesn't feel like a political or cultural screed. It doesn't distract from the narrative, basically. I really do feel like these game industry mongs have done irreversible damage to a generation of young men with their bullshit (especially by pouring gas on the Gamergate fiasco).

As an aside, I like having conventionally attractive, even coomer-bait characters in my vidya where applicable. I don't demand it, but it's certainly my preference, and it makes sense most of the time. Physically fit people automatically get a few points on the attractiveness scale, and the average game character is usually supherhumanely athletic. I was not a fan of the push for fat and ugly characters in their action titles that some devs were and are doing.
