Most came over with anyone close enough to them to be at risk. Many in Afghanistan have either been killed, been forced to flee to other countries if they couldn't make it to the USA, or are living in hiding.

Kay? That means 10% didn't. What is your point? Farm failures, especially for new farms, are common, even in countries like the USA where half of all farms barely scrape by even with much greater societal resources available to keep them going. I'd imagine even more common when you don't have generational wealth to help weather the difficulties of managing a new business and the inconsistency of farming generally. Hell, this shit's true even for businesses outside of farming. Like 75% of businesses fail in less than 15 years here.
