Why do you care? It is still less energy in total than what a gas station delivers to a similar amount of ICE vehicles, since those lose like 70% of the energy from the fuel to heat, while a coal power plant is far more efficient and cheaper.

EVs are already cheaper than ICE cars, you just have to pay more upfront, which almost no one does anyway. Most people just have a total monthly expenditure of their car which includes fuel, maintenance, and loan payments. This monthly expenditure will be lower for an EV owner.

ICE cars are also planned obsolescence. It costs more to own a modern ICE car because you can't le wrench these things anymore. I'll just wait until the Japs figure out EVs.
