I'm probably the kind of person who would buy it 2nd hand. However to the other anon's point, whilst I might be a middle-class professional, I'm not the sort of person with new-Maserati money.
Ironically, I do indeed drive a pre-fag Jaguar.
So perhaps it's more a matter of means (mine being limited by private school fees currently), but I think the sort of person who actually *wants* a Maserati, and by that I do mean a petrol V8 generally speaking, is the successful but slightly odd type.
They know Porsche is the sensible buy; but there's something more to it that is difficult to articulate, and in the 21st century Maserati seems to hit that button.
