Yes. In fact, I have spoken to actually filthy rich people who buy brand new luxury cars. People who want nothing but to look wealthy because they are wealthy and status compels them to flaunt it, not to those who fake it till they make it. From the ones I got to speak to or observe on this kind of matter, all either didn't mind because they were clearly fixated on the badge and nothing else, or actually liked it because it looks imposing.
I might've even inadvertently insulted one of them when he asked me about his brand new X5M and I gave him a "meh" instead of clearly expected "wow". He didn't get angry, he didn't get defensive, he just looked at me in awkward confusion. He genuinely couldn't understand how it didn't impress me. It impressed every one of his rich friends, but this boy half his age didn't get moved by such a show of opulence. I kinda weaseled out of that by complimenting the colour (gloss light blue, apparently wrapped since BMW doesn't offer that colour, but at least it's not an NPC gray), but he looked at me like I'm an anomaly for the rest of the day.
The fun part? One of these "rich friends" who complimented his purchase was my dad (the entire reason I met the guy in the first place). Normally he laughs at those sniffs with me, he's just as much of a car guy as I am, but in high society, building connections is more important than being honest, and thus self-perpetuating cycles of self-assurance are born in some terminally tasteless people. It's a vile, filthy society where the face is everything. The polar opposite of here. That's why we hate the sniff, and why they love it. It is an addition to their face. Doesn't matter if it's an ugly face, as long as it's a big face, because a big face is seen, a big face is important.
