Increases in advertising doesn't make their cars tolerable. The ad campaign where they claim "this year, we aren't fucking over the consumer, super swear" has been ongoing since I was born. They aren't doing anything new to improve their products.

On the other hand, they seem to be aggressively working to make their cars even worse. Finding innovative ways to design cars that need recalls due to self immolation is new. Old hyundai / kias just fell apart when you looked at them, they didn't self combust. It was better when the car quietly stopped working instead of now where it could burn your house down with it.

I wonder how much of this aggressive marketing is funded by their elimination of the engine interlock. Probably didn't save much, but they must have eliminated the anti theft protection for more reasons than "let's do it for funsies".
