Hopefully this really does happen. start/stop system is also a premature battery killer. Its one of the reasons why so many cars with this system have a sensor at the battery terminal to measure battery voltage, charge, health etc... so car knows when to use start/stop technology and also to adapt the cars battery charging system to correctly charge the battery. This sensor is partially the reason why you cannot directly connect battery trickle charger or jump starter to battery terminals because it would mess up the sensor readings causing issues for the car system and several warning lights to turn on. Start/stop is also main reason on why modern cars had to switch from regular maintenance free lead acid batteries to AGM, EFB batteries. With some cars like VW/Audi, BMW, Mercedes the new battery must be coded into the car system to make car accept the battery and also avoid cooking the new battery to death. Some cars dont even start up at all with new battery if the battery is not coded into car computer system.

I disagree with you. Combined direct injection+port injection literally is proven tech and has been around since 2007. It helps on reducing engine knocking which makes it possible to increase the compression ratio of naturally aspirated engines. Its one of the reasons why 2.0liter engine can produce 166hp 213Nm efficiently without need for 6800+rpm redline or forced induction. In my opinion port-injection only car engines should be banned from new cars. Direct injection alone has been around gasoline engines since 1990's so its nothing new technology at all.

Diesel engines have been using direct injection many years longer than gasoline engines.
