Extremely debateable. Even assuming at least mechanical parity (lmao) nu cars are stuffed full of obnoxious nanny tech and sensor bullshit that does things I didn't ask for and don't want, and an increasing number of these things are even -legally mandated- so I can't even opt out by choosing a lower trim model. All this and they don't perform the action of "driving" any better than my 22 year old car does, all while costing a shitload more both in purchase and ongoing costs like registration and insurance. Other than the most ecoshitbox of ecoshitboxes nu-shit doesn't even get better fuel economy so it's an extremely poor value proposition since it's at best equivalent function for far greater cost.

My car is 22 years old and in the 10 years I've owned it I've put less money into it than 6 months of a budget nu-car payment. "Fixing up my old POS" literally costs 20x less than inflicting nu-shit upon myself. I remain unconvinced.
