These shills come from a place of bitter cynicism built on seeing things fail over and over. Instead of standing up to anything, they tear down the people who try. They don’t really not care, they’ve just decided nothing works and anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid. A lot of it comes from being burned, feeling powerless, or watching movements get crushed. But instead of doing something with that, they turn it into smug sarcasm. Saying “you won’t do shit” isn’t just some opinion. It shuts people down before they even start. That helps the system more than they realize. They think they’re being real or radical, but they’re really just making sure no one moves. Real change needs people who still believe it’s possible. Cynicism feels safe, but it’s just another way of giving up.
