So much so that I don't know if I'll be able to put it into words:
-We've entered into a deeply unhealthy "renter's economy" where acquiring large sums of money is a "solved problem": simply sell people subscriptions to things. Forever. This form of capitalism is extremely destructive to most forms of development because it heavily discourages "creative destruction" ("we can't switch to nuclear, think of the oil industry", "we can't cure that disease, think of the pharmaceutical company", "we can't build trains/buses, think of the automotive industry!") and scales up in every direction infinitely.

-There's currently a competency crisis due to our various institutions becoming "old growth guild-like associations" combined with industries wanting to hire as cheaply as possible. Homegrown academics are therefor too expensive, too "entitled", due to the cost of education, and positions with access to resources become flooded with cheap foreigners and know-nothing nepo-babies and diversity hirers.

-Distrust for authority and academia has become mainstream: doctors and scientists are largely untrusted, perceived as largely bad faith actors, and *a lot* of people nowadays just believe whatever shit they're told by based on where a person pings on their political compass. People live in entirely different realities based on their feelings. This is carte blanche true.

-Elon Musk, but unironically. The rise of a technocratic oligarch who got rich: buying dozens of tech-companies, including the world's largest media platform, and receiving numerous government grants to sell what amounts to luxury brand appliances (rich people buy electric cars, normal people do not buy electric cars).

-Governments are completely zogged and cucked out: the old are too scared of change, the young have been propagandized and will earnestly kill us all, and anyone sensible or competent is completely demotivated.
