I can post a QOL index with an upward trend for the last decade if you'd like. Or a downward trend in historical infant mortality, illiteracy, poverty, flu-related deaths, or any other negative QOL metric, but that has essentially no bearing on the base of this conversation.
At any point in history before modern societal convenience, life was objectively harder for the individual because there was less delegation of responsibility. This is a fact you can't argue against. In a time before grocery stores and general contractors, you were responsible for the acquisition of your own food, shelter, and safety (all things modern first world inhabitants are largely incapable of now). Minor illnesses were likely a death sentence. These issues were directly threatening and pressing to the individual, yet people didn't think twice about having families throughout the entirety of human history. That shouldn't need explaining.

And now, in a world where your base needs have become a convenience, here you are with a life so comfortable that you can worry about non-existent existential threats so completely that you let it destroy your willingness to reproduce. Insane stuff really.
