In terms of OP's question, getting a single, cheap scope for cellular work isn't that hard if you know where to look
as for cell culture equipment, you should get an inverted scope (it's just better for DIY setups) with a nice condenser and ideally some florescence filters if you don't want to perform expensive flow cytometry in the future. Funny enough, those are the same features praised for in some petrology scopes, and replacing the lenses and filter sets with plan lenses and some cricut stencils on mylar (or an LED grid kit) respectively is not that hard. 500 bucks on ebay.
A field scope and inverted florescence/dark field scope are all you need.

They do sell those, for automated ones in cell culture exclusive stuff, helps keep everything inside the hood. Not going to be easy to find online tho, I know seeedstudio sells a (very, very) cheap inverted scope with a single interchangeable lens that could work for cell culture, but you'd need to buy a condenser and basically DIY your own scope if you want to see anything with clarity.
I've seen a petrology scope with a ground glass projector for imaging before, really should have kept that.

What the fuck are you saying here, you esl dipshit. I deal enough with this shit at work. Tools depend on the task, I've spent 100s on great dissecting tweezers, but I wouldn't recommend them to a cell culture biologist.
