Just like you said, it doesn't measure actual intelligence, but how well you perform on IQ tests. You can train for these tests and then score higher than average, but your actual intelligence wouldn't have changed just by training for these specific tests.

People who are more educated might have seen those tests (or some of the questions) before, and would score artificially higher than someone who don't have previous access to them. So is it really reliable as a general test of intelligence?
