There are various principled truths.

1) Truth based upon epistemological ends (with guard rails set by reasoning)
2) Truth based upon practical consensus (truth is what is practical/what others believe)

You can accept the practical/common/consensus truth and epistemological ends of truth, for different functions.

Depends on context. For argument with normal people, only consensus truth matters. For introspective truth or socratic debates, reasoned epistemelogical truth matter and only ought to matter. For the epistemelogical truth, the foundational axioms need to be agreed upon from which truth can be reasoned. If people refuse to agree to axioms out of practical considerations, then they dont want to have debate on epistemological truth. They're not interested in pursuit of truth for the sake of truth. They're interested in advancing the practical goal of truth.
