Not only is the power pathetically low the attenuation in free air is also very low. Why do you think someone would choose a freuency with high attenuation? Those bands always get allocated to the use for unlicensed use, naturally because you can not do fuck all with them and also it's really hard to cause much trouble in thkse bands.
But yes: Naturally there is some attenuation and naturall, that energy must go somewhere so of course it's going to end up in the air as heat. But if you consider the low power and the volume it's probably far beyond the most sophisticafed thermometers.
Your observation that it is hot is correct tho. It's called global warming. It's caused by inconsiderate folk leading highly energy intensive lifestyle, including motorized means of transport, vaccations even, HVAC and so on.
