Just read some New Age shit about pyramid shape magic, they claimed it was good for everything from healing to preserving food to sharpening razor blades(actual example). Just move it into a setting where magic is demonstrably real and flashy. Maybe they help gather and focus mana from leylines? Maybe they ARE leyline nodes constructed for reasons long forgotten (and what can happen if those are disrupted/moved/destroyed is another campaign hook). Or maybe instead of just making the faggotking comfy in his afterlife they do have a healing effect meant to disarm him off his faggotry over millennia, lest he notice, get furious, rise and devastate the continent.
