And the World of Darkness, should you like.No titleWhat are the implications of parents discovering that their children's card game features disgusting blown out asshole pornography as a regular thing?Onward to Our Heroic DeathsBefore I start, I just wanted to say: I absolutely loved the concept of Vermis, it's a cool read (even if the second book isn't as good). That got me thinking: What about an RPG where the objective is for the PCs to die heroically? Off the top of my head, the concept is like - the entire world is rotting, and everyone who dies goes to Hell to suffer forever. The only way out is to die heroically so you go to Heaven, to escape Hell's grasp. The PCs are a desperate band of heroes who have set out to cheat Hell, by trying to put themselves into situations where they can die in genuinely heroic ways, saving their souls (I'm somewhat thinking of Fate of the Norns: Ragnarok.)
Of course, just getting stabbed by goblins or dying in a fight isn't enough, you need to do something REALLY heroic and sacrifical or you're damned forever. So you can't just pick a fight, you need to find somewhere you can make an 'unforced' sacrifice. I think OSR can work for this - I feel other RPGs don't really suit the morbid black comedy of this idea./40krpg/ - Warhammer 40k RPG GeneralAcolytes of the Inquisition Edition
What's life in the Inquisition like as a grunt? No titleWhen does a magical realm becomes too magical ?HoYocoreAre you familiar with any indie RPGs that specifically set out to capture the feel of 2020s-era, 3D gacha games? Think Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, and Wuthering Waves; and upcoming titles such as Arknights: Endfield, Azur Promilia, Neverness to Everness, Project Mugen/Ananta, and Silver Palace.
These games seem like they would make a good basis for a tabletop RPG. Colorful characters with wildly diverse skill sets work together (and synergize, especially in combat, where each PC fulfills a different yet equally important role) and tackle epic quests in a fantastical, lore-rich world. Often, the setting is laden with anachronisms, at least one region is a romanticized and mystical image of China, and adventures take on a hugely "chosen one"-type narrative, meeting the major movers and shakers of factions and nations. Very little is mundane, and characters tackle huge threats right from the beginning; few low-level origin stories are to be found here.
While emulating actual gacha mechanics is likely impractical, I can see a contrivance wherein the party unlocks characters as the campaign goes along. If someone wants to set aside their current character in favor of a different one (who is probably some high-up leader or other esteemed personage, as is often the case in these games), they are free to perform such a swap, for as long as they please. This might lead to somewhat of a Ship of Theseus party, for good or for ill. Or perhaps this is a bad idea, and the game should simply focus on a more traditional RPG setup of focusing on the same group of characters from start to finish.
What do you think would need to happen for a game to capture the rough feel of these 2020s-era, 3D gacha games? No titleHow much are you getting paid to DM? GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic. Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.
A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by those who pay attention to file extensions. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere.
If you're wondering where to start: - The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use. - A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres. - How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players. - GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

>Last Thread >>95910167Mudcore but goodMudcore sucks buy role-playing a relatively low power group of village heroes is fun. Post some ways to have this kind of game work.
>Focus on village life initially Have the village fleshed out with all the major roles covered (village leader, skilled laborers, clergy and village witch/wisdom). Have the players have a role in the village and and group of NPCs to care about. >High lethality.. Provided the players take risks. Mudcore games often pride themselves on being meat grinders. This should have the risks be real, but not kill the players just for playing. Village peasants didn't die in droves after all. But an owlbear should be a legitimately lethal foe that threatens the village (this adds tension and real risk). >Limit equipment by availabillty, not price Yeah, of course you can't find a decent sword here, but there is one in the big city. It's a full seasons journey there and back, but you can go. This adds tension too, because if you did the first part right, the players care that they are leaving their village. Possibly to be attacked.

>Why should I homebrew? /tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

Welcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You don't even have a campaign, just an idea you want to develop? You're welcome here. While the rest of /tg/ is arguing over monstergirl mating and which way rivers are supposed to flow, we're here to help you turn your thoughts into an actual finished product.
As the successor to the Storythreads, we're also open to /tg/ related fanfiction (D&D, Warhammer, Battletech, whatever). In fact, if you've written any vaguely /tg/-related short stories, you can try them out here. We also have flash-fiction challenges from time to time.
What the fuck even is the pointstarting to resent my playersI am just kinda sick of running every game. My flgs is dead (consumed by mtg and 40k), online postings are just 5e slop, and none of my players will ever actually run a game no matter how many times they say they're going to. at this point I once again am contemplating quitting the fucking hobby because it feels like its just impossible to play in a game I want to play in.

Obviously Wargamers are all welcome here. Lore youtubers are welcome. Maybe some that aren’t as popular as they should be. I’ll start.
Bandit’s Keep- He’s got an OSR slant, but many of his ideas are applicable to many games. Discussing things like overland travel rules, dungeon design ideas, urban design ideas, etc. He’s calm, thoughtful, and I always enjoy listening to his videos. Desks and Dorks- A self-described “eurocentric historian” by training, he discusses various historical concepts in roleplaying games, low fantasy, and has really improved my ability to introduce verisimilitude in my campaigns. Black Lodge Games- Probably the most well known on the list. A little inflammatory and culture-war-y, but I agree with a fair bit of their larger points (e.g. how roleplaying is different than acting and how popular let’s plays like Dimension 20 and CR create a misrepresentation of the hobby). I think their best work, though, is in discussing games they enjoy playing such as Mythras and Vampire (their Vampire content is really interesting). Power Word Spill- The one 5e guy on my list. More bearable than most 5e content creators and I really enjoy some of his more system agnostic content (such as props to give players, which I think is really a lot of fun) Shonner - Rest in peace to this legend. You might not agree with him and his videos are a slog to get through at times. But, by god, his philosophy on roleplaying and immersion has changed the way I play games for the better. His whole Me, Myself and Die!- I don’t love all his stuff, but his series on designing his current RPG (Broken Empires) has been incredibly useful for me and his ideas are really interesting (particularly how he approaches social situations and roleplaying mechanics to support social encounters)
No actual plays, pleaseWH40K needs a soft rebootyou know how age of sigmar is the best thing to have happened to warhammer fantasy? well i have an idea for something similar to warhammer 40,000 that you can play in real life!
the game starts where you move to the hive city of san fransisco, where your salary as a servitor at a chain coffee shop is $40,000 USD, which is a couple dollars more per hour than california's current minimum wage of $16.50 so you're already doing great!
you then pay a quarter of it in taxes and another third of it every year to rent your 1 bedroom studio apartment. you must face off against nurgle and slaaneshi cultists who have overrun the city, but you have to be careful though, or you might lose everything to tzeench's schemes...Black and white location artCan we have a thread for black and white location art? I need inspiration and pictures that I can show players so that they know what certain points of interest in the area look like. For example, PCs will know (or know of) the giant statue-head in pic related, and then they can choose to venture there. I need more pics of cool or interesting locations, please.Age of Sigmar General - /aosg/Sicko Mode Edition

>TQ Is focusing on offense or defence better in 5e?AOS 4: Confirmed flop a year laterSkaventide is still floating around a year later, after GW employees were told to destroy all of the in-store stock and then they were giving pallets of them away for free at Adepticon. Every AOS space obviously has a bias towards the game being popular, but, in reality, 80% of anything with the word Age of Sigmar on it gets tossed into the dumpster and people rarely play. Warcry and Necromunda get played more regularly than Age of Sigmar. Legions Imperialis gets played more. The minis, the starters, the books; everything; gets known lossed and tossed into the dumpster. This is why GW stores have plastic recycling, so people can't just pull 800 bucks of AOS army boxes out of the dumpster on a monthly basis anymore. No one outside of GW will accurately convey to you how unpopular this product line actually is. No one wants any of the new stuff; not even that giant edgy zombie dragon.
So WTF even happened with this launch and subsequent releases? People literally don't even want this stuff for free.
I cannot for the life of me pinpoint why tf they keep sending me AOS army boxes and books still. It would save everyone a whole lot of time and money if they just threw them into the dumpsters in Nottingham. Is it an executive's pet project or something? What a collosal waste of time and resources; to rot in a landfill forever.Urban Horror That Isn't WoDWhat games handle modern "urban" horror well that isn't World of Darkness or Call of Cthulhu?
