I don't play Pokémon tabletop games.
Why would I want such a limited monster collector-battler, when I can just make my own however I want?
Mechanical fidelity is definitely more important, because I want to make a more engaging experience for myself. Weakness/resistance alignments, attack/armor interactions, positioning, status effects, different resources/power systems, team role synergies, "trainer" involvement in battles; things like that.
Pokémon is great, and I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but with TTRPGs, I can make something tailor made to my specifications, instead of hinging on something else and trying to properly represent it within its restrictions.
