Oh yeah, I totally disagree with the idea that it's gonna snipe the fanbase. But there's also a shared community of younger people who've looked into mecha and they've found and been happy with both series. You buy models and play with mecha on a paper grid map, it's got some shared features.

Well, it's a fairly solo hobby. I don't meet many people who make trains, but I know there's enough of them to operate dedicated storefronts. But into the 2010's gunpla really started blowing up again in the west. It's massive now, more massive than people realize. Gunpla itself could carry the franchise for a thousand years.
