Before there was much in the way of creativity or big social trends and dynamics to lend the inspiration to writers like CS Lewis, Tolkein and Robert E Howard, a beautiful woman and the chance to bump uglies with her was one of the biggest fantasies a simple man could have.

Thinking about it like that, any story about a Knight rescuing a Princess from a Dragon is basically just a derivation on a legacy of "I get to carry off and fuck a well-off, hot chick" fantasy, because a princess is guaranteed to be both healthy, and conventionally reasonably attractive by period standards.

Unfortunately, that's awkward to do at a DnD table unless your table is entirely made up of sensible and mature adults, and game companies, eager to sell to a younger audience for more long-term customers, have tried to push to remove difficult or adult themes from things. Which has lead to this idea that adult or erotic-related content is a hallmark of 'bad/impure fantasy', where in reality it's a sign the setting is more complete.
