Guess what? USED goods stores still existed in your dad's, dad's dads, dad's dad's dad, dad's dad's dad's dads time though. You still made enough money to get the government's attention though and even a while back, the government would have made you pay up.
The difference between now and then is that the government has more technology to make it easier to report and monitor shit.

Completely missed my point. They wouldn't even need to turn anything in if they weren't assholes buying everything up and trying to resell it like a small business. People who just want to get rid of their shit don't get notice... unless they have problems like yourself.
And so many people using eBay to act like a small business, without filing, is what led to the government to take notice and make eBay report them.
