I feel like all the American presidents who brought in enormous tariffs without any infrastructure to support moving these industries into the country tanked the whole place, even if I do like the idea of trying to cut out China’s influence. China and other countries that use slave labour to drive down prices/outprice other countries’ labour and goods isn’t going to be stopped with tariffs because the average US citizen just can’t afford domestic production prices and the country doesn’t have the infrastructure/workforce to replace import goods.
