it's a nice city, super cool how the sun would never set in the summer. Biggest regret is not being able to get to naissaar island because the regular ferries have retarded and irregular schedules while a private boat wants like 400-500 euros for a round trip.
The food is not good though.

severely underrated country. Riga is beautiful and completely different from other baltic cities with its Baltic German influence mixed with Polish-Lithuanian architecture and urban layout. Inland you will find beautiful wildernesses and remote areas, Latgalia is practically like Muskoka with all its lakes, Soviet underground bunker in the middle of nowhere with guided tours right next to an abandoned sawmill and 150 year old religious rock carvings. highly recommend you visit, and if you are in Riga there is a capsule hostel downtown I enjoyed.

A sadder version of Latvia. Vilnius is a city of gypsies squatting in the ruins of what was once a glorious city of Polish culture and civilisation. Many areas will be run down, like the forced meme of the Uzupis/Zarzecze hippy republic. Kaunas is slightly better taken care of but still kind of unpleasant - we were assaulted by flies when we visited.
I think the only point of going to Lithuania is to see the ancient trees - there are 3 or 4 of them which are over a thousand years old and really pleasant to be in the presence of. can recommend the Stakai oak first hand, though your car might get searched by lithuanian military.

I would go into Kalinigrad Russia for the beaches and exoticism. If you find it too pricey, Belarus is extremely affordable andahidden gem,but will need to know Russian or Polish at least.
