True. It’s a beautiful place. Also cleaner, safer, and more accessible than the European average (I think we’ve got the best public transport in Europe by a wide margin, and among the best systems in the world). Downsides include that it’s really expensive (prices for most things are at least 40%-60% higher than in France or Germany; some basic stuff is 3X as expensive as it would be in Italy, etc.), and the food isn’t as good as that of most of our neighbors, particularly given how high restaurant prices are.

No. Someplace with mountains, I assume? Perhaps Hokkaido? Romania? Slovenia? I’ve seen parts of all of the above that are at least vaguely similar, but there are a lot of candidates.

Also true. But unlike small villages in a lot of other places, most of them are easy to reach by convenient busses if not trains.

You may (or may not) know that less
than a quarter of the Swiss population, occupying a bit under a third of the country by area, speaks French; if you’re just interested in Switzerland in general, there’s no reason to limit yourself just to the Francophone parts. A lot of the tourist-favorite parts of the country are in the much larger German speaking regions, and some of my favorite places are in the even smaller Italian-speaking bit (although if language is a concern in general, it may be worth knowing that English proficiency may be a little lower than the national average down there, although it’s still OK).
