My Thai gf who has worked in many hotels used to tell me stories about her colleagues accepting walk-ins but then saying the price was 4k per night instead of the actual 2k per night the hotel charges and then they pocket the difference. They also just pocketed the 1k charge if you bring a lady to your room.
That was a 5 star hotel in Patong mind you, and the owner had no idea about this. They got away with something like 250K
