You don't get it, it's the other way around, it's about realizing they don't give a shit about you.
Of course, you shouldn't insult locals, steal from them, be an asshole, and you should respect their culture, learn a few words of the local language, and so on if you want a pleasant trip.
But the locals are busy with their own lives, their jobs, their families, their friends, traffic jams, money problems, etc.
Do you think Asian locals care if they see yet another tourist eating a bowl of cheap noodles? Do you think your existence is that important in their eyes? Are you some kind of Hollywood superstar or something?
No, they don't care about you because you are leaving in a few days, and another tourist will do the same thing as you as soon as you are gone.
You are not "a nuisance in their country that they put up with" as long as you behave correctly, you are just a foreigner in the landscape on their way to whatever errands they are running, a foreigner who came to spend his money in the country. So you better enjoy that bowl of noodles before going back to the wage cage.
