friendly reminder that the "good seasons" 1-4 already had tons of stuff that never was in the books, but those scenes were still generally well liked by audiences

none of this is in the books, and it was specifically written by D&D for the show, yet it was still considered good.

the simple answer is just that everyone involved got lazy in the last few seasons, you just have to look at the episode numbers, we're missing 6 episodes (half a season) because they couldnt be bothered to do 10 each anymore.
