This was definitely a dumb and pointless change but from the trailer it looks like she's gonna be doing what the Silver Surfer is supposed to be doing.

For the record I'm just saying this trailer was fine. Trailers can be deceiving though, I've been fooled before. Still impossible to say if the movie is actually gonna be any good.
