It's time to remind everyone of how fucked the economy currently is.

This is all in the year 2000:
Hank probably makes about $22/hr as a highly experienced and effective assistant manager.
$45,760 annual gross/12= 3,813 gross monthly. Probably about $3100/month net after taxes and stuff.

Peggy is a pro substitute teacher, highly sought after due to her better-than-native fluency in Spanish. That probably nets her about $70/day, and she does perhaps 8 days a month? Also, with her sterling reputation, she's a certified notary, so add in a bit extra. Let's say $500/month gross, so like $425/month net. This makes a total family net income of $3525/month

House was probably ~$80k in the early 90's, so take off 20% down payment and that works to a $515/month P&I payment. Let's toss another $250/month on because Texas has high property taxes. Total = $765/month.

Estimating some others, this is the expense list:
>House: $765
>Truck: $175
>Food: $350
>Utilities: $250 (electric + water + phone + cable TV)
>Propane: Free
>Alamo Beer: $55
>Personal/Household: $125
>Bobby's Expenses: $50
>Entertainment/Dining: $100
>Healthcare: $200
>Tools/Lawn: $30
Sum of all expenses = $2,100 / month

That leaves $1,425 left over, which Hank probably puts into the 401k, Bobby's college fund, or paying off the mortgage early.
