Its a good gun, well designed, good ergonomics, its easy to modify, it can be produced by small companies, lots of people know how to use them.

If you're making a semi automatic carbine there's not much to be gained from doing something different. If someone makes some major advancement in firearms design that renders the AR15 platform obsolete then there will be reason to change; but right now there's not.

Its like asking why all smart phones have the same basic shape and touch screen interface. People know how to use them and right now its the best system so every company makes their own version of it.
