Its deliberately fantastical. Same reason Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Xena Warrior Princess worked.

A small woman beating up a man or several men isn't believable so it looks less out of place the more fantastic the setting and action are. Xena Warrior Princess doing ten back flips into a kung fu kick and then sending a guy flying is ridiculous; but it would be ridiculous if a man did it too so you can appreciate it without any concern for realism. On the other hand if you're watching a cop show that's trying to present itself as a grounded realistic setting and the 110 pound lady cop knocks out two men twice her size then it stands out terrible because the setting is trying to be realistic. And this goes for fantasy and scifi settings too, if the setting is trying to be somewhat grounded in realism like Star Trek or Game of Thrones or the like then the physical strength of the women likewise needs to be grounded in reality unless there's some magic or scifi macguffin to explain it.
