Arcane was a massive financial failure for Riot because it was made by Riot Games.

Riot has always been absolutely incompetent at monetization, which is the entire issue. The only remotely competent monetization they've ever succeeded at is MTX. Despite running the largest, most popular esport in the world, LoL esports has never turned a profit since it has been brought under Riot's banner, despite OGN regularly turning profit before.
