Regular computer operate on 1 or 0. Electric current is ON or OFF: no in-between, no uncertainty.
Quantum bits work a scale lower, where something being ON or OFF isn't an actual fact anymore but just a statistic.
This is absolutely dogshit for a computer, because it mean all result are semi-random. You ask a quantum chip what's 2+2, and you will get "4" 34% of the time, "0" 2% of the time, and "bacon" 0.1%. Utterly useless for any sane usage.

"Sane" usages.
Mathfags are NOT sane.
And mathfags, being bored, found a few math formula that basically shortcut through an insane amount of calculation when done with uncertain quantum bit, and directly give you the encryption key.
That's the only reason for those things. They are the worst computer chip possible BUT there are a few narrow math formula that can actually make use of their "weakness" to pull some bullshit.
