Direction of attacks matters: game has no i-frames so you cannot just dodge into enemy attacks like you do in soulsdogshit, you have to dodge away from them and if you choose the wrong direction to move laterally - you get hit. You can input massive freeform combos while controlling the direction of every attack and humanoid enemy combos are unpredictable. Enemy attacks are fast, there are no retarded half-hour windup animations like you get in soulslop so having good reflexes is a prereq in this game. Risen 1 combat utterly sharts on your kusoge.
