it felt very overly complicated and spells like Dispel magic not working 80% of the time if your enemy is above your level was frustrating, but at the same time it really felt like some unparalleled late game shit that's hard to match. And I think forgetting it in BG1 is less of a problem, even with SCS since you don't really get access to higher spells and I believe you have to just rely on dispelling arrows, at least that's my cope as I'm now entering the chapter after the bandit camp
