The biggest problems linux has:

Linux is easily an order of magnitude less stable than windows is.

I have been using linux on/off for 20 years, none of these issues have changed much or at all in all that time. UI's have gotten prettier but they aren't any more useful than they were 20 years ago. Steam is making a lot of progress getting games to work but you still constantly run into problems to the point that it's simply not worth it. The ideal setup is probably linux with a windows virtual machine but it's so painful to set up and get functional it simply isn't worth the bother.

It is just overall an OS that you use if you enjoy spending time fixing or tinkering with your broken OS.

If you just want to sit down after work and play a game, watch a movie, browse the internet, use youtube, etc. then its simply not good enough. You run into too many problems that just happen for no explicable reason that make using it as a daily driver frustrating.

I don't think linux will ever become good. If it was going to be good it would've happened 20 years ago.
