Absolutely not, I can count on one hand the amount of people who've been playing this game for over a couple of years and are still singleboxing.

The only real defense for CCP is that subscription time is dirt cheap if you take advantage of sales and pay for a year at a time. If you buy PLEX during a PLEX sale and buy omega in 24 month increments during a NES omega sale, you can get the price per month down to something like $3.50/mo.

Really, alts solve so many problems with the game that I cannot in good conscious recommend people to play EVE without them, even if it's at the very minimum of having all three character slots on your account filled and trained for things.

Even discounting how much more effective someone operating in most tasks becomes with a scout (Yes, even things like hunting DED sites or doing missions in high sec benefits from an alt that can scout or salvage for you), having a character parked in different regions so you can quickly do whatever content you want is a massive gamechanger in players' enjoyment of EVE. Even just rolling alpha characters to do things is a big deal and its free. I have the following extra alphas for shit:

>Abyss runner parked in an empty system in HS with a Vexor NI
>DED alphas in Jita, Amarr, and Dodixie that double as Homefront runners
>Spy in ABSOD, not so much because I care what they're doing (It's not interesting anyway) but because I can satisfy my desire for F1 engagements on occasion
>Explorer that filaments to null to scan sites

All my omegas are always parked and engaged elsewhere, with all of these I can log on and do whatever I feel like at any time without having to travel somewhere or worry about strings being attached.
