All of this was off-screen, without even an explanation or flashback to help contextualize things. I was never one of those waifufags who hated Iris, but even I felt she was very artificially pushed in Journeys. It was obvious the staff wanted to "improve" her and make her more appealing to the audience, but she was getting so many gifts out of nowhere that the whole thing felt contrived.
Journeys was a very frivolous series that was geared toward fanservice but ironically didn't know how to do fanservice.
