That's correct for the most part, in some SRW games (known as OG games, which only includes Original Mechs) you can equip different weapons/parts to more generic Mechs

Yes, one could say that SRW is a big fan service game with iconic robots like Mazinger or Getter performing iconic moves or even recreating famous moments from their series (like the Double Kick in Evangelion)

Correct, the actual maps are a flat image most of the time (there's terrain bonuses and such) later entries have more detailed everything lol

My main gripe is the fact that SRW J animation look stunning while something like Emerald looks pretty "empty".
I'm not asking for the same amount of quality per mon but maybe 1 or 2 frames of animation when attacking would be nice enough to make Pokémon a bit more dynamic
Gen 6 onward does have animations for pretty much all actions a mon could perform but there's still a lack of "style", the animations are pretty utilitarian, doing the minimum to convey action
