My friend used to live in San Francisco. I visited him and His Uncle worked in the same building as a Game magazine in the late 1990s (I can't remember if it was WIRED or not or which magazine it was). He was able to get us a Tour of the game company in the building, and I saw their offices and met some of the people.

They gave me this weird vibe. At the time I couldn't describe it. But thinking back on it, it felt like they were way too hard to "fit in" to what they thought Gaming culture. Like over the top 'dude bro' gaming stereotypes. Some of them had this "fraternity bro" personality. None of them were acting like normal people who just liked games. None of my friends who played games acted the way they were acting. The workers also seemed to bash on PC games, laugh at Sega, and pushed Nintendo/Sony really hard. It was so strange. They also made a couple Sega Dreamcast jokes. Dreamcast was about to come out in a few months.

Yeah sorry for my blog post. But I wanted to share my experience. It felt very weird and artifical.

The cool thing about their office was that I remember each desk had multiple CRT monitors and computers. Each desk had a Playstation/Nintendo 64 hooked up. There was also a bunch of peripherals and gaming merch stacked all over the place. They would test some gaming device once and then leave it to collect dust ontop of boxes off to the side.

It's so strange. As a kid I wanted to work at a place like that full of games. But as an adult I don't think could stand them as coworkers. They are so fake and full of themselves.
