Basic mobs in Aos are simple af, most having just one attack. Getting hit isn't a problem, and they die easily enough. Leaving you with a fuck load of potions that you can just pause and use for any boss that isn't a big punching bag. Sequence breaking just means having to deal with a strong boss then steamroling the rest, so it doesn't really fix the issue.

I know, the boost feels mostly meaningless VS your average mobs so it'd be just more practical to force max lvl 1 with cheats for difficulty

You have other animation cancels in Sotn, for attacks you could, for example, landing cancel. But honestly there ain't much point to it in either game.
And yes the game is harder if you avoid solais and shit, but honestly beside the guns weapons are too similar for me, so yeah, an overhead weapon run, a frontal slash weapon run, and a gun run. IMO Dos greatly improved in the weapon variety and quality
