It's not that big of a deal, because it's really not used for a full 256 levels of input (that would be completely insane), often it's a matter of a light hold on the face button having one action, and then a firm press having another, ergo two functions for one face button.
Not that many games used it, but Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 did, and while it may be unfamiliar, you'd get used to how it handles. There is that one funny thing where you might accidentally slit a captured guard's throat instead of interrogating him, but you probably won't do that mistake twice.

How was the ColecoVision? Also, what kinda games from the 2000s onwards did you end up liking the most and sticking with?
