The devs themselves said they saw GTA selling like hotcakes and wanted a bite of that action, so they combined GTA with 3D Platformers to sell to a general audience. Really cool combo which is why it’s so fondly remembered outside of being a Simpsons property.

Kind of a shame they didn’t do a bigger sequel on the then next gen consoles. My biggest issue with it as a kid was that Springfield was cut up into chunks instead of being a true open world which they could have done on 360/PS3. Now we will never get a sequel because it’s been so long. Anyone heard how Marge sounds in the new seasons? Holy crap that show is just beyond running on fumes and needs to be put to rest.

Anecdote: When I bought this game new at GameStop (or maybe it was EB games), they gave me a free Simpsons Hit and Run promo hat because they were overstocked on them. I wish I still had it.
