I actually generally agree with you here and feel that this is fair criticism of the game and where it feels somewhat weak compared to other titles. Having acknowledged that though,

I'm not going to let you do this. LttP is filled with heavily redundant items. Like, you have 3, THREE different medallion spells, all of which do basically the same thing and I don't even know what the difference between them is supposed to be really (they affect different enemies differently I guess, but they're all broken bomb attacks that aren't balanced like AoL's Spell). You have the cape and a cane that both make you basically invincible.

Comparatively, just the abilities of a single MM transformation mask transforms the ways you can interact with the word and does stuff like let you launch yourself off hills etc. Just the various songs alone make the Ocarina super versatile compared to LttP's flute, not to mention the freedom you have to actually free-play it (which actually matters).
